Welcome to PS 9!

PS 9 is an open choice elementary school with a strong focus on the arts. The PTA at PS 9 is committed to encouraging parents to use their "VOICE" (Vision, Opportunity, Independence, Collaboration, Expression) to create meaningful opportunities for students, staff and families.
As a result, we provide a variety of school, community and family activities that not only engage children and families, but build a community as well.
We look forward to providing our families with many meaningful opportunities throughout the school-year.

Welcome to PS 9!

School Leadership Team (SLT) Roles and Responsibilities

There are four (4) parent/guardian seats available for the School Leadership Team (SLT) that need to be filled. SLT elections are held every two years, and members elected serve for two consecutive school years. For those unfamiliar with the SLT, it is a group of parents, teachers, administrators and others who are responsible for setting the educational direction of the school.

Leadership teams have two main tasks: The development of the Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP), and the alignment of a school-based budget with the CEP. All New York City public schools are required to have a leadership team and you can help our school meet this mandate.  Your participation will also ensure that the parent voice is represented in important decisions that will impact the teaching and learning in our school.

Parents/Guardians who will have children in P.S. 9 next year are eligible to serve as a parent member of the leadership team, unless they are employed by P.S. 9 or if they are a member of Community Education Council for District 31.

For more information on the nominating process, please visit the Nominating Committee link on this website.
