Welcome to PS 9!

PS 9 is an open choice elementary school with a strong focus on the arts. The PTA at PS 9 is committed to encouraging parents to use their "VOICE" (Vision, Opportunity, Independence, Collaboration, Expression) to create meaningful opportunities for students, staff and families.
As a result, we provide a variety of school, community and family activities that not only engage children and families, but build a community as well.
We look forward to providing our families with many meaningful opportunities throughout the school-year.

Welcome to PS 9!

Upcoming Family Fun Event: Dance-a-thon!!!

This week we backpacked your Dance-a-thon packet. The packet included the event flyer (image below), a pledge sheet, and a detailed Frequently Asked Questions document.

To accommodate our growing numbers, the Dance-a-thon will take place at PS/IS 48's Gymnasium, 1050 Targee Street.

We are offering an ELECTRONIC pledge option through our NY Charities account. If you have extended family who would like to support your child, this is an easy way for them to submit a pledge of their choosing (for PS 9 families as well). To make an electronic pledge, simply click the Dance-a-thon Pledges heart to right of this post; you will be routed to a secure site through NY Charities. In order to support the PTA with accurate record keeping, please enter your child's name and the event into the following field (For example: Joey Smith/Dance-a-thon).
Additional pledge sheets can be downloaded here. You can also access a downloadable pdf under the "PTA Documents, Handouts, & Flyers" section of this site (left-hand side column).

Refreshments will be served during the event. We will be collecting baked goods from families to sell in the Snack Shack. Donations of baked goods can be dropped of at school anytime on February 10th.

Family Fun Events at PS 9 have been a HUGE SUCCESS thanks to the support and participation of our dedicated families. Event set up will take place from 3-6pm on February 10th. We will need a lot of help to transport our supplies across the street and to transform the gymnasium into a dance-worthy space. If you would like to help out before, during or after the Dance-a-thon, please contact us at events@ps9si.org.

Thank you for your continued support!
